Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the "Composite Scoring" option.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores. Premium Service – currently unavailable |
Both services can take a few business days to complete.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Great deal for a great test...
This is the first year my son took the test online. He usually takes the end of grade test on paper. We have always used the CAT and was hesitant about doing it online, but we gave it a try and he loved it. Instant results, easy instructions to follow. Highly recommend this test!!

Convenient!
The online testing service is easy to use, fast to deliver results, and convenient! I love that I can give my kids a standardized test that is acceptable for state requirements without having to arrange testing at another school, or read it all to my children, one at a time while supervising the rest of the children. Truly a time saver and sanity saver for the homeschool mom!

Great solution to standardized testing
CL has great customer service. This was an easy test to administer, and I felt it covered what my exiting 2nd grader should know.

CAT Test Online 3rd Grade
This test would be better if it were not timed. The public schools in 3rd Grade do not time their students. My daughter did not finish the majority of the LA sections because she is a slower reader. So, if your child is strong in reading, this would be good for them. Otherwise, I would suggest finding a test online that is not timed. My daughter is strong in math and did great, finishing all Math sections.

Easy, quick, and cheap
I homeschool and was looking for a way to test my kids to see how they're doing. A friend recommended this site to me and it was wonderful. The tests were easy to access and the scores were clearly explained. We will definitely use this site again. I would say, though, be sure your internet connection is good before beginning a test. Ours went out during one portion and my daughter had to redo it.

Cat Test
Overall I am satisfied with the test offered through CLP. I have used it for many years. I do feel like one thing that was a big issue for me was the fact that you had 2 bars that needed to be scrolled down to find the info you were looking for. Also, I didn't like the sentence structure setup for that part of the test. Because you had lines that were broken up in lines with around 5 words my kids kept thinking that it was the beginning of the sentence and wanted to keep choosing that as the problem in the sentence. Also, having one sentence end in the middle of that line and the next start was difficult. They were reading it the wrong way like it was one complete sentence. They were trying to make it make sense the way you had it written there. It was very confusing for both. I feel like if you just put the complete sentence in one line, or even writing it in paragraph form, the younger children would understand what they are doing.

A good test for the price.
I was satisfied with the testing environment and the score report. One thing to keep in mind is that it is a TIMED TEST. My son has some ADHD issues so that was a bit of a concern, but he did okay. If you have a child who does not do well with timed assessments, this would not be a good option for you. Homeschoolers in my state are not required to do annual testing, but I wanted to get some benchmarks as my son is considering returning to public school next year (ugh!)

Online CAT
I really enjoyed the online format. Super easy to administer. My daughter had no trouble at 7 years old clicking on answers. I told her it was a "game" to see how smart she was. She thought she was getting every answer correct (even though she wasn't) but it built her confidence as she went along. (I didn't tell her they were wrong) I loved the online instant results.
