Product Description
Paper California Achievement Test with mailed results. This is a timed test.
This 1970 edition California Achievement Test is for students entering grades 2 through 12. It covers the following subject areas: Reading (vocabulary and comprehension), Mathematics (computation and concepts & problems), and Language (mechanics, usage & structure, and spelling). The test for entering grade 2 also includes Auding.
Scores reported will offer a grade equivalent score, but also percentile and stanine rankings for each of the individual test sections. You will receive your testing materials by mail.
This service includes all the necessary materials and instructions for administering the test. After testing, please return the materials to us for scoring (an envelope is included, but you may use any mailing method you would prefer). After scoring the test, we will then mail the final results and original test sheet to you.
Ordering Instructions:
- Enter the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME of the student to be tested in the spaces provided.
- Select the GRADE ENTERING; not the student's current grade.
- Indicate if you would like to add the RECOMMENDATION SERVICE or COMPOSITE SCORING service to your test (both services are explained below).
- Please enter information only for one student at a time, then select the Add To Cart button.
- If you wish to purchase testing services for additional students, or wish to make other purchases, select the Continue Shopping link after viewing your shopping cart.
It can take roughly 1 week to grade the test and mail the results after receiving your test(s). If ordering the Recommendation Service or Composite Scoring service, please allow up to an additional week for the results and service information to be mailed.
* Please note that the California Achievement Test has a 1 year expiration date.
Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the "Composite Scoring" option.
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores. Premium Service – currently unavailable |
Both services can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

CAT: What was needed and simple to use.
Mandatory standardized testing... that says why we, as home educators, have used this test. And we chose CAT over others because of the reviews by other parents, versatility of the test by both paper and online, and for our state, we parents are "permitted" to administer the test ourselves. As much as we don't want to answer to the state for our God-commanded parental responsibilities, this is a simple and easy way to meet the "guvmint" mandate. We have used both the paper and online versions. Paper needs a week (or more in peak times) for scoring and mail return of grade/report, while the online gives instant results. The children have preferred the paper version. The online version has a bit of learning curve depending on your personal computer, computer speed, internet connection, display resolution, etc. On our computer with limited screen display, we needed to scroll down in each question for all the selection choices. We had a "glitch" that locked up the program (as others have experienced) but it was handled very quickly by a phone call to the staff. Order early and return the answer sheets early for timely results when necessary for mandated school district student reports. Now, is there a standardized test formulated for us DOG lovers?

CAT is in the house.
That's right. CAT is in the house, at least here. That big furry creature arrived in the mail last month. Son, Benjamin, was too busy to open the package until recently. Then he completed the tests according to the Time Constraints and I mailed the test back. Ben's review of the test was: "While I don't normally like tests, this one made a believer out of me. It was concise, to the point and tested what I learned from the 6th Grade Curriculum. So, it was not difficult to read and understand the test. That is why I like the CAT in our house."
