Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test. Composite score results are displayed in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers a curriculum recommendation service to provide guidance in this area. This service provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
The recommendation service can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into Christian Liberty Homeschools (CLH) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one originally taken, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

A little clunky but still a good experience
The interface needs some work for the online version. You have to constantly scroll down to see the rest of the question or the "Next" button. But it's scrolling down from a window within a window, so that is a little irritating and hard to get used to. The spelling/punctuation test is formatted odd as well. With a decent computer programmer the online version could be greatly improved and much more user friendly. My kids are in 3rd & 5th grades and are pretty savoy on the computer but this was challenging in the beginning. I thought it first it was the browser but logged the second child on with IE and that made no difference. Overall, a good test and I'll use them in the future. Just know they'll need some help with the user unfriendliness in the beginning.

Quick & Easy
The tests were very quick and easy to administer. I tested two 3rd graders and one first grader. We started around 8:30 am and were done by around noon. I appreciated the knowledge that the test hasn't changed all these years so the scores would not be dumbed down.

Good, but glad it didn't "count" this time
I had my daughters take the online version of the CAT test even though neither of them were required to take a standardized test this year. They both did well on it, but it definitely had a learning curve attached, especially in the language sections in which questions involved looking at one specified line of a piece of writing. Each question's line was printed by itself below the full selection, and it took a while for the girls to realize that they needed to look at the line in context to determine if the capitalization and punctuation was correct. One other thing that bothered them was that they were taking a test that is used for multiple grade levels (including several higher than their grade), so they had never studied or even heard of some of the language and math concepts. That was a bit unnerving for them, especially my stressful perfectionist-type daughter. All in all, I was happy with the results, and we will likely use this test again next year, but be aware of potential issues and plan accordingly.

So much easier than paper!
My 3rd grader gets so frustrated and distracted with test taking . The advantages of the online version are she doesn't focus on all the pages and questions she has left to answer or the number of questions left after time has run out. The only draw back s were certain pages needed her to scroll down with the mouse which took a little practice and also after selecting an answer she then had to press an additional button to submit. Not a big challenge but something to prepare your student for. The best part, when I had a technical problem Christian Liberty responded immediately and solved it so I was able to continue testing! Fantastic customer service!

Very easy to administer!
My daughter is finishing up 3rd grade and this is the first test I have given to her. I was a little nervous but the website was very easy to navigate and the test walked us right through each section. I will be back again the next time I need to do testing.

CAT Online Test
I loved the CAT Online Test for my daughter who is going into 2nd Grade. This was her first time testing. She was relaxed and enjoyed most of the process. My husband & I are both Christian Liberty graduates. We wished we had the option of the Online Testing years ago. It is a much easier process with less stress of the timed factor. My daughter didn't notice she was timed until close to the end of the testing because the clock was so small. I loved that feature! I also loved the you could break up the sections & complete them at your leisure.

CAT online
We did the beginning of 3rd grade test. Itwas user-friendly except for the first part. We however nearly ran at a time when we had a download each word. Other than that we were absolutely thrilled with how fast and how is everything went. I will definitely be using this test for all my children from now on. We have to test the odd years in the state I live in.

An excellent way to meet testing requirements in our state
We live in NC, and we have to test yearly for homeschool. We used the online CAT for my rising 5th grader. I like that it was only 25.00 and we could get curriculum recommendations as well for an extra fee. It helped me to see where we really need to focus next year. I should add that I did sit with him for all of the testing. It took two days for us to spread it out and I had to make sure he was working quickly enough. I also was able to note that he had weaknesses in certain areas so I can be sure to address that with our curriculum.
