Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the "Composite Scoring" option.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores. Premium Service – currently unavailable |
Both services can take a few business days to complete.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Cole completes 9th grade
It kept our attention ! He had to think about the questions and answer carefully. The material was diversified and fair.

Sweet
It's easy to understand and go through and my kids and I are able to see the results right away. It helped give me an understanding of how my kids were doing and I ended up having one of my kids redo his math test within 6 months. (If you do that, make sure you contact support so they can reset it for you. Otherwise, it may not grant you access to retake the same grade level with that student. I called and they helped out right away and got us access immediately). My son retook the test and we've seen his improvement. The test has proven to be a great tool to help gauge where my kids are at.

First year doing the ON-LINE CAT test with the kids
We have used the paper CAT test for several years, but gave the On-Line version a shot this year. The reason we chose to do it is because the kids are teens now and will be taking college entrance and CLEP exams On-Line and we wanted to go ahead and get them used to it. We have not done any on-line classes before, so this was a new experience all the way around. WIth that being said, it was a positive experience, overall. We ran into a couple of glitches that I think could have been avoided and that we will know how to handle next time. 1. There is a pause button. If your child has to go to the bathroom in the middle of a timed test, pause the test and it will resume where you left off. 2. Have paper and pencil handy for every test. Whether spelling or math, sometimes it just helps to write something out. 3. Be prepared to sit with your student at least for the first few sections to help get him acclimated. Sometimes the NEXT button wasn't visible and had to be scrolled down to; sometimes it looked like there were only two possible answers, but when he scrolled down a bit there were 5. We will do the On-line test again next year. We loved having the immediate scores!

New to CAT online
The trick was really figuring out how the test was going to happen before starting. We learned on the first section of nine sections. We learned that you can go back before the time is up and correct previous answers in that section. We learned that there is a timer on the bottom left to watch, because we created a google timer in a separate window for the first section. The sample questions are very easy, compared to the test questions. After that, it was make sure you look at the test answers, to see what format or units the answer needs to be. We will be using it again. It was also three times harder than FCAT timewise.

great but didnt like being timed!
The process was fast & easy. Really liked this option but hated being timed. Is that really neccesary? Its not a good indicator of what they know. Thanks:)

Not exactly in the pursuit of excellence.
We were very disappointed both by the quality of the test and by the quality of the report. It does not reflect well on this organization or on the "Christian" label your company carries. Even when I called into customer service to politely address my concerns the young lady said all she could do was offer to have her supervisor give me a call. It has been more than one month and I have yet to hear from this supervisor. Poor product, even poorer customer service. There is clearly a reason that most every other testing service costs more than double the fee charged here. The old adage rings true: "You get what you pay for." I made the mistake of paying for half-rate material and service and got the lowest rate service available. Perhaps the material was at least half-rate.

Very good test
I've used the written version of this test for many years with 5 of my 7 children. I've also organized groups to take the test using that version. I liked it very much. These last 2 years I used the online version and it was even better because the tests time themselves, It seems easier for the kids to follow since the questions are presented one at a time so there's no mix up. (The paper version bubble sheets can mix up the kids if they skip one and forget, then all the answers are wrong down the whole line.) This test is so self explanatory all you have to do is read the beginning directions with the child and make sure they understand how to select their answers, then just be around keeping an eye on them, but they can do them themselves. You don't have to be a certified teacher. Then, when it's all completed, you get the results immediately. The paper test had to be done, then mailed back for grading. Even though that was pretty quick turn around, it is so nice to not have to wait. When we had a computer glitch in the middle of a test they were quick to reset it for us so we could start over. The only down side is that this test doesn't cover Social Studies and Science but that has not stopped me from using it. It costs less than all other tests and helps me to verify the areas we need to work more closely with my kids.

User Friendly, Accurate
3 kids tested, grades 6, 8 & 9, intuitive to use, quick results, very pleased with our experience. Reading Vocabulary results did not come into our email, but customer service helped find it online and told me where I could see the complete results and print them for my records. So glad to have the convenience of doing this at home.
