Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the "Composite Scoring" option.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores. Premium Service – currently unavailable |
Both services can take a few business days to complete.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Convenient, easy, and immediate results.
I only wish I had ordered the paper version of the test, so I could review the tested information. My children all scored low on the 1970's CAT test, but scored off the charts on the California Achievement Test, 5th Edition – Complete Battery – 1992 Version, we used previously. (Upon reviewing the CAT 5 test questions I felt sure the kids would do well.) One of my kids (10th. grader) passed the current state tests given at the local school, but failed the 1970 CAT miserably. So I speculate there is some truth to the claim the Gov. is dumbing down our students, or they are no longer teaching the same curriculum...? My kids use to attend public school, but we were painfully aware they were not receiving an education... so we began Homeschooling them, in 2009. Using Switched on School House to educate our 5 kids. After reviewing how the kids did on this test, I pulled out a Math U See book and compared the curriculum covered by the Classic (1990's) Intermediate book intended for (5-6) grade and found that it covers the same curriculum & more, then other 7-8th. grade courses. I am now going to reevaluate the SOS programs claims that it teaches above the national levels..., especially the Language Arts. Lord help us all if their claims are true... it would appear our kids really are being dumbed down.

Easy to Use and Quick Results
This test was easy to use and the results were immediate. The results were not as specific as The Iowa Test of Basic Skills but they gave me a general sense of where my kids are in spelling, math, and reading. My younger kids (grade 2) had some trouble clicking on the small bubbles to choose their answers as they don't have much computer experience. The test is an easy way to get your homeschool testing done. I also did the curriculum recommendation for my 4th grader as she is very advanced. It seemed like it was not very specific to my child and like they just categorically put her in 5th grade for everything since she did so well. There was no paragraph explaining why 1 curriculum was chosen over another.

Convenient, Inexpensive, & Fast Results!
After looking around on the internet for standardized testing options for homeschoolers, I was so pleased to find this test. As a first year homeschooler, I was stressed about testing options. At a price I can afford, the convenience of doing this test at home and on my schedule, and knowing we get immediate results made this a no brainer. Plus, I heard that the standards for this test, originally from the 70s, are higher than standardized public school testing today. Either way I can compare the results for my student against my child's grandparent's generation (my parents were 10 in the 70s). Pretty cool! There may be times when you want your child to use another test for any number of reasons, but if testing isn't your thing (or your child's thing), when you are short on time and money, and when you don't have time to fuss over testing options, this is the test for you! Testing is something I no longer have to worry about with this option available to me.

CAT testing online
I had my reservations about doing the testing online but all 4 of our children worked with this format very well and the immediate results are a huge bonus.

Easy to use and good feedback
The online CAT testing was very user friendly and manageable. It gave us a good picture of where we are excelling as well as some Reas that need work. Thank you for making homeschooling a little easier.
