Online Testing System Requirements
What are the system requirements for the online California Achievement Test, Practice Test, or TestPoint Placement Test?
High-speed Internet is required to take our online achievement and placement tests. If you do not have access to high-speed Internet, then please consider using our paper-based CAT service. The CAT Practice Test and TestPoint Placement Test services are only available online. Because testing is Internet-based, it will work with any operating system (e.g., Mac and Windows).
Online testing is designed to operate with any of the major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.) However, we recommend Google Chrome as that browser has been shown to be the most compatible with our tests. We recommend you also make sure your web browser has been updated to the most recent version to minimize any possible problems.
Testing should be completed on a desktop or laptop computer. Use of a tablet or mobile device will reformat the test in a way that can hinder the test-taking experience.
We also recommend you disable or process any automatic updates your computer may have pending before beginning the online testing as the updates can affect or interrupt the test.
What do I do if I am having a problem with Internet speed or connectivity while taking an online test?
If you are experiencing difficulty with the online testing service, or if your student is having technical difficulties, please contact our Customer Service Department.
