Simple, to the point
I like this approach very much. It is dry, no fancy pictures, but it teaches what a student needs to know.

Too Complicated for 7th grade
First, this book needs a teacher's manual so that the teacher can further explain the concepts introduced. We have been struggling with this all semester, and both my student and I hate it. The only benefit is that the lessons are shorter than in other books.

Grammar book 1 review
I must admit, I'm disappointed with this book. I feel that a book listed as the 1st book in the series, there should be most of an explanation about the different parts of speech as they are introduced. If they are assuming this has been covered before, I apologize for this comment.

I like this book very well. I think it gives excellent opportunities to learn each lesson/concept.

Best spelling book I've used
I used several different spelling books in school and they were forgetable at best. Spelling was also not taught at this grade level, when and where I went to school. Since I began home schooling, I have been using Spectrum. Their spelling books are alright, but they only go up to grade 6. I like this for a grade 7 speller because it explains so much about the words and gives relevent exercises that help beyond learning how to spell.
